One day, a couple of years back, I was abroad shopping in one of my many favorite stores, when I came upon a little corner where they sold t-shirts which were solely dedicated to raising funds for an important cause. I found this to be a fresh new concept that certainly got my do-gooder attention.
Shopping selfishly for myself was a thing of the past as I was now making a fashionable purchase, at the same time donating! The guilt of spending money quickly wore off, as I felt a civic consciousness to help towards the cause.
Most importantly, did I buy the tee? In a heartbeat! What's not to love - it's shopping (who doesn't love that!), it's t-shirts (a MUST have!) and it's contributing towards a good cause (you're turning into a regular philanthropist!).
This made such an impression on me that I knew someday when I started anything on my own, it had to be based on giving back. The best bit is that you can give back in the most effortless manner... a chore no more.
